Camalou Corner and the Bund Road is a popular area south of Banjul and an excellent starting point for shore birds, waders and terns. Between the wrecked boats and mangroves Slender-billed Gull, Long-tailed Cormorant, Royal, Lesser-crested, Caspian, Sandwich and Black Tern, plus Pomarine and Arctic Skua, off the coast, all at the appropriate time of the year. Waders include Black-winged Stilt, Pied Avocet, Common Redshank, Greenshank and Little Stint. Sometimes Blue-cheeked Bee-eaters are seen on the telegraph wires. Camalou Corner is another area of mangroves and open water with herons, Kingfishers, Sacred Ibis and African Darter.
